Our online orientation is a chance for you to get to know what online study with Charles Sturt University is really like. You’ll learn to navigate our online learning spaces, explore the different support services on offer and even brush up on your study skills before class starts.

Midyear online orientation offers more than 70 online presentations to help you get ready for study. Once you’ve completed your orientation, you’ll know what to expect while you’re studying with us. Plus, how to use our online systems, and how to connect with your classmates.

My orientation portal

First things first. You need a centralised point where all your important information about studying with Charles Sturt is stored – also known as your orientation hub.

Before Orientation starts, we recommend you log in to your orientation portal and have a look around. You’ll find that the entire portal is personalised – just for you.

My Orientation activities

This part of the hub is designed to display the range of orientation activities available to you. Here you can build your own personalised orientation calendar, selecting from a mix of online academic, study skills, and services and support sessions.

  • Online orientation workshop. Start uni with a live one-hour online workshop. You’ll find out about your online learning tools as well as our services and support to help you succeed.
  • Introduction to online study. Make sure you’re comfortable using your online learning tools with a free Study Link subject, SSS032 Introduction to Learning Online.
  • Short courses. Check out Study Link’s short self-paced online subjects to fill knowledge gaps and build your confidence before your course starts.
  • Prepare to study. Improve your writing, referencing and assessment planning skills before you start. Join an online workshop or book a tailored appointment to make your study plan.
