We get it. Making the investment in a degree can seem like a big step. But once you’ve decided it’s what you want to do, we want to make pursuing your dream easier. That’s why at Charles Sturt University, we have hundreds of university scholarships to secure funds to help you study – whether online or on campus.
Scholarships are funded by the university, our alumni, families of students, government bodies and community organisations. We have hundreds of separate scholarships available. They all have different eligibility requirements, so you’ll probably be able to apply for one, two or several of them. The good news is that there’s no limit on how many scholarships you can apply for!
Scholarships can make a big difference in covering the cost of study. They can be general scholarships that you can use for whatever you need to make studying easier. Others are designed to assist with purchasing textbooks, and there are specific scholarships to help with travel and accommodation costs, whether moving to live on campus or to help you attend an intensive school.
Our scholarships cover a lot of the aspects of being a student. Let’s take a look at just a few of the scholarships available in different categories.
Equity scholarships
At Charles Sturt University, we want anyone who wants to pursue their dream at uni to get the chance to do so. And we realise that circumstances outside your control sometimes affect your ability to study at uni. Equity scholarships are designed to help you bridge the gap if you’ve experienced financial hardship.
Our Equity Scholarship can assist with the general costs of studying at university. You can use it as you see fit. The Professional Placement Equity Grant provides a weekly stipend to help you cover the costs of attending work placements as part of your course. An undergraduate student studying online? Then the Online Textbook Equity Grant helps you purchase the textbooks you need for your course.
Location scholarships
Some scholarships are linked to where you live or how you’re studying. So, to give a couple of examples, there’s the Dr Doug Stace Scholarship, which you can apply for if you’re starting any undergraduate on-campus course at the Bathurst campus.
Suppose you’ve completed high school in the Albury-Wodonga area and have a place in one of several undergraduate education, business, information technology or environmental science courses available for study at the Albury-Wodonga campus. In that case, you can apply for the AlburyCity Foundation Scholarship. The Tony McGrane Scholarship is for first-year students in any course on the Dubbo campus. Are you studying at least 80 per cent of your subjects online? The Online Study Student Representative Committee Scholarship can provide a financial boost.
First Nations students scholarships
Besides our dedicated support services, we have a range of scholarships specifically for First Nations people. Our Foundation Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Achievement Scholarship can help if you’re studying full-time, either on campus or online, at undergraduate or postgraduate level. The Dr Bal Krishan Scholarship is specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying any undergraduate degree on the Wagga Wagga campus. The Indigenous Education Costs Scholarship can help you with the set-up costs of starting study at Charles Sturt University.
Other scholarships
There are a large number of other scholarships that have unique eligibility criteria. Have you been a member of the Australian Defence Services? Or are you the son, daughter, spouse or grandchild of a currently serving or retired member of the Australian Defence Services? If so, you can apply for the Wagga Wagga RSL and RSL Sub Branch Scholarship.
The TAFE to University and Pathway Scholarship is designed to help if you’ve completed a TAFE qualification and want to take your learning to the next step with an undergraduate course at Charles Sturt. Or if you’re a refugee, our Foundation Refugee Scholarship is designed specifically for those in your situation.
