Your Charles Sturt University support services

We all need support. And we’re not talking about those Lycra sports leggings – we’re talking about real, human support. We’re talking university support services.

Uni can be your chance to live life on your own terms. Being a uni student is awesome. You’re in the driver’s seat, choosing your subjects, tutorial times, what to eat, when to study, when to get out of bed. You’re the boss!

Except for when you’re not. Because life. It happens. You might get sick, or get behind in your coursework, or have financial worries. We all have times when we need a hand. That’s where the uni you go to can make all the difference.

When you’re studying at Charles Sturt University, you’re studying with us. This is one of the most important differences about being with a regional university – you’re with country people. We’re friendly, warm and welcoming. We’re here to help you achieve your goals. And we know how to take care of you.

At Charles Sturt, support isn’t an ‘add-on’ – it’s part of your experience. Being supported is just a normal part of being in our family. We’ll introduce you to all our academic and social support services early and encourage you to use them often.

Let’s take a look at all our university support services.

First Nations Student Connect

First Nations Student Connect is our dedicated hub for academic, social, cultural and personal support. And there’s a First Nations student centre on each of our campuses.

Study support

Get support with building and developing study skills. We work with you to build the skills and confidence you need for academic and professional success. Attend a writing or referencing workshop. Explore online resources to help you learn more effectively. Get feedback on your assignments before you hit submit. Ask a question on our ‘Ask an Academic Skills Adviser’ discussion forum. Or book an appointment with a literacy or numeracy adviser.

Study Link

Study Link is perfect if you’re preparing to start uni, but you’re a little rusty. Our Study Link program can help you brush up on your skills or fill in any knowledge gaps in a particular area. You can start these short, self-paced subjects anytime, and they’re free for most Australian residents.

LGBTIQA+ Ally network

Our community is inclusive, and we’re committed to providing a safe, supportive and affirming environment for LGBTIQA+ students. If you need to chat or want to become an Ally to support others, our network is here for you.

Library services

Naturally, our campus libraries have all the resources you’ll need to get the most out of your degree, giving you access to thousands of electronic resources, audiovisual materials, books and journals. But our mission is to go far beyond that – providing library services to you anywhere, anytime – with online access, ordering, support and secure 24-hour collaborative study spaces.

Support = success

In our experience, being supported from the day you start makes a huge difference to your study experience, your results and your career prospects.

Charles Sturt = support

At Charles Sturt, we wrap our support systems around you like a onesie. Weird analogy – but we think it’s one of the reasons why Charles Sturt continues to have Australia’s highest graduate employment rate.*
